The two words are not mutually exclusive “gaming” & “gambling” it is an activities to the public. This distinction is not universally observed in the English-speaking world, however.

So let's go now to the past, the term "Casino" originally meant a small villa, summerhouse or pavilion built for pleasure, usually on the grounds of a larger Italian villa or palazzo. There are examples of such casinos at Villa Giulia and Villa Farnese. In modern day Italian, this term designates a bordello (also called "casa chiusa", literally "closed house"), while the gambling house is spelled casinò with an accent.

During the 19th century, the term "casino" came to include other public buildings where pleasurable activities, including gambling, and sports took place. An example of this type of building is the Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island.

The precise origin of gambling is unknown. The Chinese recorded the first official account of the practice in 2300 B.C., but it is generally believed that activity of gambling, in some way or another, has been seen in almost every society in history. From the Ancient Greeks and Romans to Napoleon's France and Elizabethan England, much of history is filled with stories of entertainment based on the games of chance.

In American history, early casinos were originally known as saloons. The creation and importance of saloons was greatly influenced by four major cities; New Orleans, St. Louis, Chicago and San Francisco. It was in the saloons that travelers could find people to talk to, drink with, and often gamble with. During the early 20th century in America, gambling became outlawed and banned by state legislation and social reformers of the time. However, in 1931, gambling was legalized throughout the state of Nevada, and Las Vegas, spawned America's first legalized casinos. New Jersey, allowed gambling in Atlantic City in 1978 which is America's second largest gambling city. Other regional centers for gaming in the U.S. are Tunica Resorts, Mississippi and in the Gulf Coast region around Biloxi.

Behind the poker cards

Poker is arguably one of the most mentally challenging games in the casino. After all, you need to constantly consider many factors when playing your cards. All this while anxiously waiting for the next card that you will draw.

In order to have a good chance when playing the game in an online casino, you need to arm yourself with an appropriate strategy. What you need to consider when deciding on your game play is that there are some basic differences in online game play and that of traditional table play. This will help you to design your strategy much better.

The most obvious thing that you would notice is that the game play is much faster since the cards are automatically dealt to you as soon as you hit the deal button. Also, other parts of the game, such as betting and hitting, have their results in less than a second after you made your decision. Thus, you need to be rather quick in thinking and deciding on your next moves.

One of the things that you can do is to think ahead about your moves. While you definitely won't be able to predict what card will be showing up on the next draw is (no one can, actually), you can have a general idea of the possible cards that can show up. Here, card counting is definitely a must. However, you should note that card counting in an online casino is somehow different from doing it on the table. For one, you won't be able to track the dealers movement (since there is no one) when dealing the cards.

However, there is still something that you can do here. The thing that you need to remember is that, while the game is played digitally, it still uses the standard 52-card deck. By remembering what cards have already appeared, you can then have a good idea of the deck's current composition. Card counting using points for each card can be also done here. Since you are playing right at home, you can even use a pen and paper to list down your count. This makes it even easier to keep track of your counts and lets you focus more on the game.

Also note that since you are playing via the internet, you won't be able to see your opponents face to face. This can be either good or bad, depending on how you look at it. Obviously, since you can't see the other players, you won't know if they are bluffing or not. This also goes true in your case, which you can use to your advantage if you know how to.

In order to carry out a good bluff online, you need to choose your moves. Since you are not seen by other players, you need not worry about your face showing hints of a bluff. However, your next move may show up these hints. You should therefore make your moves at the right time in order for them to be unnoticeable and make it easier for opponents to fall for your bluff.
