Prepon's first acting job was a 1995 television commercial for MCI. In 1996, she studied drama with acting teacher Caroline Thomas at Thomas's Total Theatre Lab. Later, in September 1997, she premiered on a Levi Strauss-developed show called They Go On, an Internet-based soap opera.

Prepon had a starring role as Donna Pinciotti on the Fox television series That '70s Show, from 1998 to 2006. Prior to joining the That '70s Show cast, Prepon worked as a model in Paris, Milan, and Brazil. In 2004, Prepon was on the cover of Maxim.

2005–Present

Prepon was an executive producer of E! Hollywood Hold'em and of Robert Hall's debut film Lightning Bug. The 2006 movie Karla starring Prepon caused a substantial controversy and public outcry in Canada. The movie was based on the true story of Canadian serial killers Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo. Not only the families of the killers' victims, but politicians and members of the general public, called for a boycott of the movie. The movie was restricted to a small scale Canadian release.

Prepon was a cast member of the ABC show October Road, which debuted March 15, 2007. The show was canceled by ABC on May 12, 2008, despite strong ratings and a grassroots campaign from the show's fanbase to keep the show alive. The Amazing Keno

Keno is one of the oldest games in the casinos, and as you would expect in a game that has existed for more than three thousand years, there are not a few discrepancies in what we know about the history of keno. However, by all accounts, Keno was invented some 3000 years ago by Cheung Leung, a ruler of the great Han Dynasty. At the time, Leung's city was involved in a long, drawn out war, one that had all but exhausted the city's funds and resources. Unable to draw more tax money from the residents, Cheung Leung conceived of an idea that would both fill his city's coffers and would not place extra taxation on his citizens.

The game he invented was somewhat similar to the modern keno we play today. The game was based on a popular poem at the time, "The Thousand Character Classic." This poem was, and is today, a popular way for people to lean how to count, using one thousand Chinese symbols, none of them repeating itself. Comprising two hundred and fifty phrases with four characters each, the poem was written by Zhou Xingsi. Out of them 120 were used, subdivided into eight characters to each subdivision. In order to regulate the winning or losing, it was decided that whoever would guess right a whole subdivision would be rewarded ten taels, a Chinese form of currency. Incidentally, this same game is still played today in china, only the number of characters used from the "thousand character classic" has been reduced to eighty.

The game enabled Cheung Leung to earn enough money in order to finance the war. As the game's popularity spread, it was known as the "Game of the White Pigeon." This was because it was played in the main towns and cities, and communication being difficult in mountainous China, the news of successes and losses were often relayed to the surrounding countryside by dove. Soon, keno spread throughout the country and people were playing avidly. When the largest national project in Chinese history was first conceived, The Great Wall of China, it was funded and paid for by keno draws. In the history of keno there is a lull at this point, and the game did not develop until much later.

While keno in its purest form did not leave China until the beginning of the twentieth century, this is not to say that other forms of lotteries or raffles were not played in Europe. We have evidence of this in of the first recorded lotteries, when the widow of of the Flemish painter Jan Van Eyck raffled off his remaining paintings. It was in 1515 that the word "lottery" is thought to have come into being, derived from the Italian "Lotto" meaning destiny, or fate. Even in the United States, long before Keno came to the shores of this country, raffles and lotteries were often used to finance civic improvements such as courthouses, jails, hospitals, orphanages, and libraries during the years 1790-1860.

However, the history of keno picks up the pace in the beginning of the twentieth century. San Francisco has always been a magnet for deviates, gamblers and other people who were not welcomed in the more proper mainland. It is no surprise; therefore, that it was here that keno was first accepted and played. Brought to the shores of the United States by Chinese sailors, keno was an instant success, albeit an underground one. At the time, gambling in all forms, including lotteries and raffles were prohibited by law; the authorities seeing that corruption was rampant in the raffle industry. However, keno was played avidly, with the Chinese characters changed to number in order to facilitate the needs of American players.

Craps is a descendant of an ancient game called Hazard and the origins of both are a matter of debate. Hazard was claimed to have been invented by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre and his knights, during the crusades. It is said to have been a pastime for the crusaders while laying siege to a castle called Hazarth or Asart in 1125 AD. The name of Hazard is therefore supposed to be a corruption of the castle's name. However the Encyclopaedia Britannica says the name came from the Arabic words 'al zar' or 'azzah' which means simply "the dice". This would seem to imply the game is Arabic in origin.

Whoever invented it, Hazard became a hugely popular English game. Geoffrey Chaucer mentions it in the Canterbury Tales frequently and it was played by the English through the centuries. Luxurious gambling houses (the original casinos) in 17th century England staged games of Hazard and fortunes were lost by the higher classes and noblemen.

The French took up playing Hazard and it is claimed that they changed the name to Craps, using and corrupting the name given to a losing throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, known as crabs. However there is no documented evidence to support this and the name is almost certainly American in origin.

Some claim that the French took the game to America while others think it probably went with the British. The earliest British settlers, perhaps on the Mayflower, would almost certainly have played with dice.

Whoever took Craps to America it was there that the game was simplified to become the game of Craps that we know today. The French settlers where displaced by the British and moved south to eventually become Cajuns. It has been said they took the game of Hazard south with them. It is in the south that the development and invention of the game of Craps is attributed to African Americans in the early 19th century. An American slang for Craps hooting and dice play is African Dominoes. Some claim the name Craps comes from the term given to the French - Johnny Crapaud (Crap being French for toad. A nickname referring to the French taste for eating amphibians). But the name Craps is almost certainly a corruption of the name for a losing throw of 2 in Hazard - crabs. It may have been the French who came up with the name or the African Americans of the south who first played it. No one knows for sure.
The game spread to the riverboats on the Mississippi and then from there to the rest of the country until a dice maker called John H Winn developed the game further so that players could bet with the shooter or against him. This development negated the usefulness of playing with crooked dice, a common practice at the time. John H Winn is known as the father of modern Craps and his development became the modern 20th century casino game of Bank Craps with layouts and tables.

Today Craps is the biggest gambling game in the history of the world in terms of money wagered. Today it is commonly agreed that the first roots of blackjack appeared during the 17th century in France, where a game called Vingt En Un was played in French casinos. The name Vingt-en-Un means "21" in French, which evidently was not the first ancestor of blackjack, but it's clear that blackjack did originated from it, thought the blackjack rules do not resemble it in all aspects.

Vingt en Un was very similar to blackjack, with few minor differences: only the dealer was allowed to double and the betting method was that you would have to bet after each round, which is not like in modern blackjack. But as in the traditional blackjack and other blackjack variants, Vingt-eb-Un's goal was to reach a 'natural' or a total of 21 by using blackjack's hand ranking system. The English name blackjack came from a special feature of Vingt en Un, which was a special payout when one had a hand of a Jack and an Ace of spades, hence the term Black Jack. It's the ideal hand of Vingt en Un.

At that time a game called Seven and a Half was played in Italy. In this card game, which was played with face cards and the 7's, 8's and 9's cards, your goal was to reach a hand of seven and a half points. Regular cards (7's, 8's and 9's) were valued as one point while face cards valued half a point. The King of Diamonds could substitute any card, like a Joker card and it was basically a wild card. When players exceeded seven and a half points they were "busted". It is believed that the term "bust" of blackjack derived from "Seven and a Half".

Another strong point of turn in the history of blackjack was after the French Revolution the game migrated to North America; there it gained much popularity since no laws prohibited card games during that time. Professional gambler understood the huge potential that lays dormant in the, and soon they developed th blackjack basic strategy for improving their winning odds. The game had started to gain popularity as in the beginning of the 19th century the government of the US had banned and outlawed gambling activities. The US government believed that gambling corrupted society and encouraged organized crime.

And so, with numerous laws against it and Federal Marshals on its tail, blackjack became an underground game. It became even more popular as government's restriction tightened around it during the 20's, and eventually Nevada decided to legalize gambling in 1931 and Las Vegas was born. The game attracted more and more interest as the years passed, until science had decided to investigate it as well.
In 1953 the first attempt to study blackjack was made by Roger Baldwin and his associates, a great turn in the history of blackjack as well. They used statistics theory and calculating methods in order to reduce blackjack's house edge. In 1956 they published their findings in the American Statistical Association under the title "Optimum Strategy in Blackjack", the first ever blackjack strategy guide.

But the tools Baldwin and his associates used were not as sophisticated as needed in order to fully investigate blackjack's statistics. The next step in this road to understand blackjack via math and science was made by Professor Edward O. Thorp. He polished their findings and used new calculating systems and machines. In 1962 Thorp published his book - "Beat the Dealer" - in which there was written down the first actual system - the blackjack card counting system.

"Beat the Dealer" became a huge success and in 1963 it took the first place of the New York Times' seller list of books. Not only Thorp's work had impact on blackjack players and blackjack's history, but it also hit the casinos with terror. Casinos across the US devised plans to reduce the damage and soon after "Beat the Dealer" was written and published they modified the blackjack rules.

Thorp's Ten-Count was hard to learn by average blackjack players, his book was uneasily read or understood by the public and the main effect it had was raising blackjack's popularity up into to the sky. The public of blackjack players were raged upon the casinos' new 'bogus' blackjack variations. And so the casinos, after realizing that "Beat the Dealer" was no threat to them, and losing much money on the way, reinstated the use of the 'traditional' blackjack. During the 60's, 70's and 80's blackjack was the rising star of card games among the casinos.

Julian Braun, an IBM employee, used his computers skills and studied blackjack with a simulator, was another great contributor to blackjack. His work was put in the second edition of "Beat the Dealer". Another contributor is Lawrence Revere who published "Playing Blackjack as a Business" that inspired thousands of blackjack players.

The hero of blackjack, Ken Uston, had also a great part in blackjack's history as he inspired millions of people in his books "Million Dollar Blackjack", "Ken Uston on Blackjack" and "The Big Player". Ken Uston and his colleagues used computers that were inserted to their shoes, and by using them they made thousands of dollars every month while playing blackjack at Nevada's casinos.

Ken Uston wasn't the last to use such methods and in the 1990's another group of players hit the casino halls using card counting techniques - The MIT Blackjack Team. The members of this team made millions of dollars until 1997 when they were banned from the casinos after they were detected by the Griffin Investigation, a private detectives company that identify card counters and secure casinos around the world from gamblers that cheat.

The history of Poker is thought to have evolved over more than ten centuries from various games, all involving the basic principals of ranked card or domino combinations and the use of ‘bluffing’ to deceive opponents.

One popular belief is that a game similar to poker was first invented by the Chinese sometime before 969 A.D, when The Emperor Mu-tsung is reported to have played "domino cards" with his wife on new years eve.

Egyptians in the 12th & 13th centuries are known to have used a form of playing cards, and in 16th century Persia “Ganjifa” or “Treasure Cards” were used for a variety of betting games. A Ganjifa deck consisted of 96 elaborate cards, often made of paper thin slices of ivory or precious wood. The Persians played “As Nas” which utilized 25 cards, rounds of betting and hierarchical hand rankings.

A French game named “Poque” and a German game named “Pochen” became very popular in the 17 & 18th centuries, both developed from the 16th century Spanish game called “Primero” which involved three cards being dealt to each player. Bluffing, or betting high stakes whilst holding poor cards to deceive opponents, was an integral part of the game. Primero dates back to 1526 and is often referred to as “poker’s mother” as it is the first confirmed version of a game directly related to modern day poker.

French colonials imported the game to the new world when they arrived in Canada. Their beloved poque was the national card game of France and from the beginning of the 18th century, when a hardy group of French-Canadian settlers founded New Orleans, it spread from the state of Louisiana up the Mississippi river and then throughout the whole country.

Poker River BoatIn 1834, Jonathan H. Green made one of the earliest written references to poker when in his writing he mentions rules to the "cheating game," being played on Mississippi riverboats. The Cheating Game" quickly began to supplant the popular cardsharp game of 3-card monte on the gambling circuit.
