Liv Boeree - Sexy Poker Player
Olivia “Liv” Boeree is a TV presenter, model and poker player in the United Kingdom. Born in Kent in 1984, Liv studied physics with astrophysics at the University of Manchester before moving to London. She was introduced to the poker industry when she was selected as one of five contestants in the reality TV show "Ultimatepoker.com Showdown", which aired on Five in autumn 2005. Hailing from the English countryside, Liv grew up playing guitar and listening to heavy metal until she moved to the University of Manchester to study Physics with Astrophysics. In 2005 she graduated with a First Class Honours Degree and moved to London, originally intending to continue a career in Science. However, shortly after she discovered poker after being selected for a reality TV show that took five complete beginners and trained them to play.
After the show, Liv began playing poker as a serious activity, and in 2006 she became the TV presenter and journalist for Gut shot TV at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Shortly after, she became the host of Challenge TV's on-line coverage of the European Poker Tour, and also appeared as a reporter at the World Series of Poker Europe on World Series of Poker.com. Liv writes a regular column in industry magazine "Bluff Europe" and has had front cover features in "Gambling Online", "World Poker Tour" and "Online Casino Gambler" magazines.
In early 2008 Liv attracted the attentions of top online poker site Absolute Poker, and recently became their European Ambassador where she will be representing them both online and in major live poker tournaments around the world.
After falling in love with the game, she studied it intensely and since then has notched up several tournament wins and final tables around the UK and in Las Vegas, most recently winning the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championships in May 2008. In 2006 Liv also discovered a passion for TV Presenting after travelling to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas for Gutshot TV. Since then she has worked on productions such as The European Poker Tour and The European Challenge II in Vienna. Liv also writes a monthly column in Bluff Europe Magazine.
Most recently, Liv has become the European Ambassador for Online Poker site AbsolutePoker.com. Her initial successes in poker were a 7th place finish at the Welsh Amateur Poker Championships, a 1st place finish at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas and winning a $19,000 package to the 2007 Five Diamond Poker Classic at the Bellagio, Las Vegas. Liv has also appeared in the Gala UK Poker Tour Season 1 on Channel 4 as a featured player, the World Women's Open on Five in 2007 and on Sky Poker channel 865 in 2008.
